Tyra Banks' New Obsession With Dinosaur Jewelry

Tyra Banks is the fashionista of all fashionistas, who is always on the lookout for fresh blood in the modeling industry as well as in the world of fashion.

Her larger-than life personality, unique ability to capitalize on her modeling and a zest for the best easily make her one of the most successful and enviable supermodels in the world. So when she flaunts her fashions, my advice would be to perk up and take notes!

Her newfound fashion pet is 21 year old, emerging fashion designer, LaQuan Smith who dressed her up in a cute caramel baby doll dress with Victorian puff sleeves for the cover of Tyra’s magazine, Tyra: Beauty Inside & Out. She combined it with Azzedine Alaia grey sandal pumps and looked nothing short of stunning. A modern-day pixie is what came to mind sans the feathery wings.

The highlight of her ensemble though was undoubtedly the giant black and white bib necklace from Basile & Pape and this is one brand that never ceases to amaze me. They gave Fergie ‘intergalactic’ a little while ago with sparkling quartz jewelry and this time it was ‘prehistoric’ for Tyra as her necklace was made out unusual materials such as chocolate agate which can be found in certain volcanic or metamorphic rocks and megalodon fossil, which (you wouldn’t believe it) is found in shark teeth! They aptly call it the Dinosaur Bib Necklace and Tyra absolutely ‘rocked’ it (pun intended).

Apart from giving your couture a more upscale look, bib necklaces shout STATEMENT when you need them to. And as the green movement hits the world of jewelry in unthinkable ways, look for natural gemstones such as turquoise, jade, wood and even bone, courtesy Tyra. These are the perfect pieces to be incorporated into those dramatic statement necklaces which will surely give a jet-sized impact!

Paris Hilton's True Colors

Socialite Paris Hilton brightened up Robertson Blvd in Los Angeles, California on June 28, 2010 as she shopped around. Paris browsed a clothing store with her sister Nicky Hilton before heading over to the MAC cosmetic store for a few items. Paris rocked the colors of the rainbow in a stripped dress accessorized with a headband, a large colorful necklace that seemed to be apart of the dress, gold heels and a large gold handbag. Fame Pictures, Inc

Paris Hilton has not always made the right decisions in life. But when it comes to her wardrobe, boy oh boy, the hotel heiress sure knows how to sparkle (almost). She was spotted at Roberstson Boulevard with her sister, Nicky Hilton, in Los Angeles recently, doing what she does best. Shopping of course! But did her dress do her justice?

Paris served as eye candy for the paparazzi, literally, wearing a long rainbow-like striped maxi gown, the colors of which may have been right for the summer but overall, made her look rather like a colorful party balloon or a pregnant woman in her first trimester.

She could have really shined had the dress been converted into a short vibrant tank top, matched with a pair of black-blue denims. Nonetheless her jewelry may have been the saving grace for her, during the diva’s day out.

The multi-millionaress simply could not leave her gold behind as she accessorized with a jeweled headband, chunky gold bracelet & a gold cocktail ring on either hand. And how could one not miss the overpowering multihued bib necklace? The neck piece was without doubt, the showstopper of her look and comprised of a yellow crochet centerpiece surrounded by a combination of colorful crochet designs and large irregular-shaped beads.

Well you certainly need not to be a millionaress to whip on a fancy beaded necklace. Beads are all the rage this summer and they come in various sizes and shapes. You can try a beaded necklace or bracelet that really helps in revealing your playful and fun persona.

As for Paris Hilton who is usually seen in pink, pink & pink, due credit needs to be given for her new fashion efforts. The 70s fashion hippy look suits you girl, but next time, go easy on the stripes!

Bond Girl Michelle Yeoh Wows with Green Necklace

63rd Cannes Film Festival - Stairs of You will meet a tall dark stranger - Day 4

You may have heard of several ways to go “green” nowadays including changing your light bulb to a fluorescent bulb, riding a bicycle to work instead of your car, recycling your old electronics, turning off the lights when not in use and wearing scintillatingly gorgeous GREEN jewelry. Don’t be surprised. You read it right. This year there’s no hotter way to go green (no pun intended) than to flaunt some seriously fabulous green bling and Michelle Yeoh, former James Bond girl from Tomorrow Never Dies, made us go WHOA when she showed us how to do just that during the premiere of You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger at Cannes recently.

The L’Oreal ambassador looked like a princess with an attitude as she colored the red carpet, green, rocking a jade statement bib necklace from Rafflesia which brought her pale pink Emilio Pucci gown to life. Equally stunning was the Imperial Jade butterfly dancing on Michelle’s hair in the form of a brooch. If this is the Bond girl's style of saying GREEN should never die, then we are absolutely loving it!

You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger - Premiere: 63rd Cannes Film Festival

You can take a cue from Michelle that the green movement has hit the world of jewelry in a big way. You can choose from a range of beads and natural gemstones such as jade and turquoise to express your support for being eco-friendly and to inspire others too. Layering many chains together to form a chunky necklace is a seasonal trend but an easier way to make a statement is to simply don a bib necklace like Michelle.

Be careful with your colors though. Mixing two dark colors may become a tad overpowering. Merging a strong color such as green with a much lighter pink was not only a bold move by Michelle but it instantly made her gown go from delicate to divinely sexy! We can’t expect anything less from the diva as she is indeed a Bond girl after all!
