MTV Movie Awards: A Whirlwind of Sexual Tension & Glitzy Jewelry

The MTV Movie Awards held in California had a lot of drama and sexual tension to offer this year, both on-screen as well as off-screen. I am still befuddled about what caught my attention more though. Was it the passionate lip lock that Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson shared after the former received the MTV Generation Award or was it the raunchy performance from Christina Aguilera and her team of erotically charged dancers for her song from her new album, Bionic OR was it the vigorous booty-smacking by Jennifer Lopez on an oversized Tom Cruise?

I would have to say the kiss from the divas ruled the roost but Christina’s red carpet fashion still needs mention anyhow. Her couture was completely over the top, just like her performance from later that night. She oozed with confidence though as she walked the red carpet in a very short Versace Atelier black number, with chain and feathery patterns, accessorized with Stephen Webster jewels and dramatic makeup including her favorite red lipstick.

Some would find her outfit futuristic, funky or downright freaky and it seemed like Christina filled the missing void of Lady Gaga that night. You can still look to the icon for jewelry inspiration though through her stylish, diamond encrusted belt. Belts are the perfect way to add a chic dash of color, texture or bling to any outfit and they help to give a feminine shape to a loose top or a long gown. They can be worn all over the torso, from just below the bust line to the waist or even worn low around the hips. Christina, the bionic diva certainly knew how to ‘bling’ it with her wild and powerful jewelry and you should definitely try a bejeweled belt as well to add that extra glitz & glamour to any outfit.

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to own a lethal snake? Snakes have always been considered as vicious reptiles and one might even cringe at the thought of a snake slithering through their fingers but not the hottest celebrities. The first snake ring dates back to 331 BC during Alexander the Great’s conquest of the Persian Empire. In Greek mythology, snake jewelry was donned in honor of the Greek healing god Asclepius, who was struck down by Zeus, as he feared Asclepius would give all of mankind, the gift of immortality with his healing powers. Greeks also wore snake jewelry as a symbol of eternity, wisdom and ancestral power. The trend caught on in the 19^th century and it became so popular to the extent that Queen Victoria, herself wore a sinuous snake ring.

You can go for gold-plated silver or sterling silver snake jewelry if you’re not in the mood for the real deal. You may also choose to add a snake bangle along with your ring and/or even a snake pendant to complete this wild look. But whatever it may be, once you walk into a room wearing your snake bling, you will definitely be exuding the power of an exotic princess.
